SUMMARY:The Absence of Rest in the Legal Profession
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Dr. KK Pinkowski and Michael Kahn\nQualifies for 1.25 CPD credits\nTuesday, November 18, 2025 – 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (PST)\nIf you are a legal professional who finds yourself missing opportunities to rest and not getting enough sleep, this workshop is for you. Please join Dr. KK Pinkowski and Michael Kahn for this 1-hour dynamic presentation. This workshop is a collaboration of LAPBC, the Alberta Lawyers’ Assistance Society, and Lawyer Strong Manitoba.\nAs members of the legal community have high standards and perfectionistic tendencies, they often find themselves billing long hours each day. This drastically impacts sleep and restoration time. This interactive workshop will explore ways to improve both rest and sleep.\nAbout Dr. KK Pinkowski\nDr. KK Pinkowski, DSocSc, JD, CPT, is a rest expert and recovering lawyer who swapped late nights at the office for early mornings teaching others how to unplug before their inbox explodes. A certified well-being counsellor and health coach, she blends science-backed strategies with just the right dose of humour to help high achievers step away from their desks and rediscover what it feels like to be human again. As she continues to recover from a serious brain injury, she has shifted her focus from the practice of law to completing her doctorate, focusing on well-being for professionals. It was this change in circumstances that led to her commitment to proving that rest isn’t lazy—it’s essential. When she’s not reminding audiences that “rest is not a four-letter word,” she’s busy showing that even lawyers can learn that rest is a necessity, not an indulgence.\n
