SUMMARY:Child Protection Dockets 101
DESCRIPTION:With a focus on equipping new articling students and those preparing to be called to the bar, while remaining relevant to anyone seeking a stronger foundation in child protection work, please join the Manitoba Bar Association’s Child & Youth Law Section over the lunch hour on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. This session is designed to build confidence and clarity around assisting clients at child protection dockets at a critical early stage of the process.\nA panel featuring Jodi Myskiw of WRMG Law, alongside Ailish Griffin and Lindsey McAdam of Tapper Cuddy LLP, will deliver a clear, practice-oriented overview of what counsel need to know when attending child protection dockets before Judges of the Provincial Court and Associate Judges of the Court of King’s Bench. Drawing on firsthand experience representing parents, children, guardianship applicants, and agencies, the panellists will share practical insights, common issues, and effective approaches to advocacy at this initial and fundamental stage of proceedings.\n
