SUMMARY:Speed Mentorship Events
DESCRIPTION:Join the Women Lawyers’ Forum Section for two speed mentorship events. These events will present law students and new lawyers (mentees) with an opportunity to speak with legal professionals regarding their practice areas, careers, and overall development, allowing participants to gain some valuable insight, particularly in light of these challenging economic times.\nInterested mentees may register for one session of speed mentorship. Due to capacity limits, you cannot attend both times.\nAt each session, mentees will be divided into small breakout rooms. Mentors will “speed network” through each breakout room during the event timeframe, allowing breakout room mentees to speak to each mentor.  We encourage you to arrive with questions to make the most of your time with each mentor!\nZoom conferencing details will be provided by email to those who register. Due to the nature of this event, registration is limited. If you are unable to attend this event following your registration, please inform us about your cancellation as soon as possible so we may accept waitlisted participants.\nPlease RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online at www.cbapd.org.\nYou will need a computer or laptop (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet with a microphone and webcam (built-in or external) and an internet connection.\nIf you will be participating from a laptop, you would also need to install a Zoom Client for Meetings from this site: https://zoom.us/download. If you are unsure whether you have the latest version of Zoom, please follow the instructions HERE.\nIf you are planning to participate from smartphone or tablet you would need to install an App from the Apple Store or Google Play.   if you are installing the app from the Apple Store or Google Play to use on an iPad, iPhone or Android device or tablet the free app is called “Zoom Cloud Meetings”.\nWe would recommend that you have either the Zoom Cloud Meetings App or the Zoom Client for Meetings downloaded at least 15 minutes before the meeting.\nWhen you do join, please allow your device to join with audio.  This feature can be found under Join Options in an Apple or Android device or Join with Computer Audio if you are participating on a laptop.\nAll participants should ensure they have set up their Zoom information to display your actual name (not just your device name) so that everyone knows who is on the call and anyone not invited to attend will be more easily identified, this also helps us properly track attendance at PD sessions.\nIf you are having troubles, please email sections@cba-mb.ca.\nAt approximately 9:30am on Thursday, November 4, 2021 an email will be sent from the MBA advising you of the link that you will click on to join the Zoom video conference meeting.  So it will be important to register before 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.\nAttendance at this MBA Section learning session can be applied towards your Law Society mandatory yearly continuing professional development requirement for Ethics, Professionalism and Practice Management for a maximum of 1.5 hours.\nMelanie Bueckert\nCo-Chair, MBA Women Lawyers Section\nManitoba Court of Appeal\nPh: 204-945-6457\nmelanie.bueckert@gov.mb.ca\nMaster Jennifer Goldenberg\nJudicial Co-Chair, MBA Women Lawyers Section\nCourt of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba\nPh: 204-945-2050\n
