Provincial Court Circuit Locations Reopening

Notice – Further Reopening of Circuit Locations and the Return to Communities (July 20, 2021)

Further to the Notice of June 23, 2021, the courts have confirmed that they are able to return to the communities as outlined. Virtual hearings will be held for many of the communities, with proposed dates for physical hearings given as well. See the full notice for a complete list of dates and statuses.

Provincial Court Suspensions, Restrictions, and Resumptions Update – Notice Extension

Notice #68 – Provincial Court of Manitoba – Further Suspension & Restriction of Hearings – June 8, 2021

Given the instability in the number of COVID cases confirmed in Manitoba, an extension to the current order has been placed. Further suspensions and modifications will take effect on Monday, June 14, 2021 and remain in place until Friday, June 25, 2021 or until further Notice is issued.

Provincial Court Further Suspensions and Restrictions of Hearings – Notice

Notice #67 – Provincial Court of Manitoba – Further Suspensions and Restrictions of Hearings (May 21, 2021)

Further suspensions and modifications will take effect on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 and remain in place until Friday, June 11, 2021 or until a further Notice is issued. These modifications will focus on restricting the need for persons to attend in person in any Provincial Court in Manitoba.

Provincial Court Suspensions, Restrictions, and Resumptions Update – Notice

Notice #66 – Provincial Court of Manitoba – Further Suspension & Restriction of Hearings in Winnipeg and Brandon Judicial Centres (Amended)

In line with public health directives, further suspensions and modifications will take effect on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, and remain in place until Monday, May 31, 2021, or a further Notice is issued. These modifications will focus on restricting the need for persons to attend in person in Winnipeg and Brandon, and the circuit court sittings serviced out of Winnipeg and Brandon. Other Regional Court Centres are not affected by this notice at this time, though, are closely being monitored.

Notice – Suspensions, Restrictions and Resumptions – update to Notice of March 15, 2021

An earlier notice indicated that the Provincial Court would be returning to a number of communities by May 1st. Due to ongoing health and safety concerns, the court will not be returning to those communities. No future dates have been given.

Impact of COVID-19 on the Federal Court

The Federal Court of Appeal has made a number of Notices to Parties and the Profession regarding changes due to COVID-19.

The most recent notice on April 21, 2021 extends the suspension period on filing deadlines indefinitely. Court filings should also be filed electronically following the guidelines in the notice “Requirements and Recommendations for Filing Electronic Court Documents in the Federal Court of Appeal”.
