Our presenters will discuss the issue of family members blocking other family members from visiting or contacting an elderly parent who is residing in a personal care home facility.  Can they do that?!  We will cover what the current law is in Manitoba surrounding this issue, what powers a substitute decision maker has to block access, Residents’ Bill of Rights, whether there are any community resources available to assist the blocked family member, and what role the Protection for Persons in Care Office plays
