Occupation Rent: Legal Principles, Practical Applications, and Litigation Strategies

This CPD program explores the concept of occupation rent in family law and property disputes, examining when and how courts impose financial obligations on a party in exclusive possession of jointly owned property. Participants will gain insights into key legal principles, relevant case law, and strategic considerations for both seeking and defending against claims for occupation rent. The session will also cover practical tips for negotiating settlements and litigating these issues effectively.

Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba’s Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of 1.5 hours.
