Partition & Sale: A House Divided

SPEAKER: Cameron Harvey, Q.C., Manitoba Law Reform Commission
MODERATOR: Jason Bryk, Pitblado LLP

In February, the Manitoba Law Reform Commission released a Consultation Paper considering the current law of partition and sale in Manitoba and, specifically, sections 18-26 of The Law of Property Act.   In this session, President of the Law Reform Commission, Prof. Cameron Harvey, Q.C. will compare the law in Manitoba to that of other provinces.  Attendees will be asked to consider whether the relevant sections of the Act as well as the Court of Queen’s Bench Rules are effectively and appropriately guiding Manitobans through the process of partition and sale or whether the law ought to be modernized.

A copy of the Commission’s Consultation Paper can be found here: consultation_partitionsale.pdf (manitobalawreform.ca)
