National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Statement by Manitoba’s Chief Justices and Chief Judge Regarding the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

As September 30, 2023 falls on a Saturday, the Manitoba Courts will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, October 2, 2023, and will not be sitting on that day.

The Great Library’s physical space will be closed for the day, but we are still open virtually and
available by email at library@lawsociety.mb.ca for legal help and research.

Library Closure

Please be advised that there will be a swearing-in ceremony for The Honourable Marianne Rivoalen, Chief Justice of Manitoba on Friday, Sept 29, 2023. The library will be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  After hours service for the legal profession can resume at 5:00 p.m.

Please note other upcoming closures:

  • Monday, October 2 – Truth and Reconciliation Day (Courthouse closed)
  • Thursday, October 19 – Swearing in Ceremony
  • Friday, October 27 – Swearing in Ceremony

Please note: The library will be closing early on Thursday, April 17th at 11:00AM for a special event.  Regular library service will resume Tuesday, April 22nd at 8:30AM.

The Winnipeg Court Complex will be closed April 18th and April 21st. Manitoba Law Library staff will not be onsite during the holiday, but will be available by email on Monday, April 21st. Regular library service will resume Tuesday, April 22nd at 8:30AM.
